Poondi Madha Basilica – One of the most peaceful places to visit in Thanjavur, the Poondi Madha Basilica is a Catholic pilgrimage centre. Our Lady Of Vailankanni Church – Located on the sandy shores of the Bay of Bengal, Vailankanni Church is considered one of the holiest Christian pilgrimage destinations in India. Also known as Basilica of Our Lady of Good health & ‘Lourdes of the East. It is said that Virgin Mary appeared here along with Baby Jesus around the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century, after which Vailankanni became a revered site for the Christian community. Declared as the holy city by the Pope, it draws devotees in large numbers from all over the world.
Our Lady Of Assumption – This Church played an important part in the former Madurai Mission and might be considered as the Mother Church for the southern region. It was also the center of evangelization in the Tirunelveli inland territory at the end of the 17th and 18th centuries. Now many people flock to this place of grace and also experience the hand of God in their prayers and give thanks to God the Almighty through Our Lady.
Our Lady Of Snow Basilica – Our Lady of Snows Basilica is a church that is a famous place of worship and one of the best places to visit in Thoothukudi. This place of worship is dedicated to St. Mary and is inspired by the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. It is one of the biggest churches in Tamil Nadu and the architecture is beautiful.
Stephen’s Church – St. Stephens Church is a Roman Catholic Church dedicated to Saint Stephen at 40 Kms from Tuticorin. The church was built by St. Francis Xavier in May 1544. This is the first church to be built by a saint in honor of another saint.
Holy Cross Church Manapad– Manapad is a coastal village 18 Kms south of Tiruchendur. St. Francis Xavier came to Manapad in 1542. Holy Cross Church, built close to the sea in 1581, has a relic fragment believed to be from the True Cross of Jerusalem. From 1 to 14 September, every year, the cross is publicly displayed for thousands.
Our Lady of Snows Kallikulam– The Church of Our Lady of Snow is a Roman Catholic Marian church in Kallikulam at 100 Kms South of Tuticorin. It is one of the Catholic pilgrimage centers in India dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Maravankudieruppu– Maravankudieruppu is set 3 Kms South of Nagercoil centered around the church of Our Lady of Snows which is a Catholic Pilgrimage center. The shrine refers to the basilica of Saint Mary Major on the Esquiline Hill in Rome
